This begins with Kitchener SC/TFC affiliating with Waterloo United’s existing Ontario Premier League program, and will expand into a unified operation in Year 2.

What is the Ontario Premier League (OPL)?
The Ontario Premier League (formerly known as League1 Ontario) is Ontario’s semi-professional senior soccer league, providing a high-performance environment for players progressing beyond youth competition. The Ontario Premier League includes multiple divisions (OPL 1, 2, and 3) with promotion and relegation, a U-20 league, and continues to serve as a key development pathway for young players, coaches, and officials.
When does this take effect?
The partnership begins in 2026, with a phased approach that starts this season and evolves over the next few years.
Is this a merger between the two clubs?
No. Both clubs remain independent organizations. This is a collaborative partnership focused specifically on delivering a joint Ontario Premier League program.
How will the partnership work in Year 1?
In Year 1, Kitchener SC/TFC will affiliate with Waterloo United’s existing Ontario Premier League program. The team will operate under Waterloo’s structure while integrating Kitchener players, staff , and resources.
